Remarks:
Leica has always been saying that it deliberately maintains long product cycles, since its intention is to build lasting value, to focus on craftmanship and refinement and to prevent equipment from becoming quickly obsolete. Of the three “big names” in consumer optics, Leica also clearly is the one that takes its time launching new models, be it in cameras or binoculars. But when they bring a new model to the market, its build quality, finish and design tend to be impeccable. This is certainly also true for this new “pocket Noctivid”, available since spring 2026 in sizes 8×25 and 10×25, both with traditional leatherette armour or in real leather. Holding the smallest Noctivid model conveys a strong feeling of quality and robustness. Whether this is still a so-called pocket binocular is debatable; the Noctivid is clearly bigger than the “true” pocket 8×20 Trinovid or Ultravid, and you may hesitate to stuff in your trouser pocket. It is about the same size as Swarovski’s CL 8×25. Other 8x25s, such as the Terra 8×25 (see separate post, https://binocular.ch/zeiss-terra-8×25-ed/), are more compact. The optics of the Noctivid are great, even if central and off-axis sharpness are not at the level of a top 8×25 glass, such as the Zeiss Victory (see separat post, https://binocular.ch/zeiss-victory-pocket-8×25/).
