Remarks:
This collection doesn’t generally include vintage models, except if they are representative for a period or an optical breakthrough or otherwise important for the development of the binocular market. The “Dialyt” series from Hensoldt was such a breakthrough. Hensoldt Wetzlar was a pioneer in designing and producing roof-prism binoculars (the company was later taken over by Zeiss, and Zeiss later used the name “Dialyt” for a number of its own binoculars.). The sample presented here, produced in 1936, features Abbe-König prisms; the lenses are uncoated (coating started after 1939). The 6×30 version of the Dialyt series was produced from about 1925 until the late 1950s. Its wide field of view for the time – 8.6 degrees or 150/1000m – and good sharpness make this an attractive lightweight instrument.
