Remarks:

Nikon complemented its famous “Monarch 5” line of instruments (see separate posts about “Monarch 5 16×56” and “Monarch 5 20×56”) with a series named “Monarch 7”, similar to the Monarch 5 but with much wider field of view. Nikon sold** four Monarch 7 models: 10×42, 8×42, 10×30 and 8×30. All of them  feature decent optics and mechanics and represent a good middle class in binoculars, available at competitive prices. They are placed somewhere between the lower middle class Nikon Action EX series and the upper class Nikon Monarch HG line. Above average sized field of view and compact build are characteristic for the Monarch 7 models, including this 8×42.
