Remarks:

The „NEW“ version (2023) of the well-known Steiner Commander has, beside the open bridge which makes it easier to hold with smaller hands, a slightly narrower FOV (8 degrees, down from 8.3), which improves the rolling ball effect a bit (this was designed as a marine binocular with very low distortion), further improved antireflection coatings, new body armour and an improved mechanism for the neckstrap attachment. It boasts impressive optics with a bit of field curvature (field curvature is Steiner’s trick to make you believe their nonsensical „autofocus“ claim). We like the Commander for its compact design, good ergonomics and bright image.
