Remarks:

The Commander has been on the market since a number of years now, it has been sold in various editions, the “XP” and “Race Edition” being some of them. Currently, only the plain “7×50” with a wider filed of view (see separate post) is still being sold by Steiner, plus two models with compass (“Commander 7x50K”, see separate post, and “Commander Global”). The Commander is the “embodiment” of a typical marine binocular, a sturdy instrument with very good optical and mechanical performance. It is one of the most compact 7x50s on the market.
